Title: Wheels as jack stands?
Post by: 78TA_In87 on June 08, 2021, 06:34:29 PM
I was going to build wooden jack stands out of 2by4's like lots of people do.  But don't really have much room for storing any more stuff.  I have a set of 15" snowflakes rim with 255/60s tires - can these be used as jack stands?

WOW!  Please tell me that you are joking.... Why ruin a set of snowflakes.  Sell them & buy some really nice jackstands & have a handful of cash left over.

I'd be more worried about the car rolling off of those wheels than ruining the wheels themselves. I like the wheel stands because they are very sturdy, but like you said, storage is an issue.

I suppose any steel rims would work and the rim edge should help with holding the car in place.

The rim would eventually hold it in place, after buckling the lip and digging into the car base, chassis or spotwelded sheetmetal fold.
