Title: Building a deck +
Post by: Jack on May 23, 2021, 01:21:57 PM
Maybe if I'll start posting again it'll get me going and getting few things done.

This is where I'm at now:

Grilling station/bar - done.

Older pic of the deck, I've done more work since finishing and I'll post a plan of what I'd hope to accomplish this year.

Hint - it involves pulling a permit and digging...

I like your settup Jack, but your next step sounds like too much work, LOL.

I liked the awning you made in the middle. Was that a temporary thing? Am I remembering someone else's project? Just as constructive criticism, pun intended, you need something to bring the grilling station, middle and deck to the right together, like a patio.

No progress on the deck and haven't done any of the things that I wanted to do but today I build this platform and put together this small shed that I bought maybe 2 years ago.

Thanks, its actually decent size but didn't come with shelfs... I think I know a guy that can take care of that. This weekend will use it to make room in the garage for one of the Birds.

Few weeks ago I saw this at BJ'S (its a big box store like Costco) and grabbed one, it took me few weeks to put together but I'm very happy with it.

The pergola is smaller than the deck but the bar area works well. I just need to get few bar chairs. I also grabbed the fountain which I like especially the sound of the cascading water.

I like it.  The roof is really cool!

Thanks Mike.

I also found these on clearance and got a pair. I just need to find the time to stain/ seal them.

Thats fantastic Jack!  Really looks nice and I like the curved roof. We just finished a deck for a customer and will be installing a vinyl perogola on it. They are ok, but I like the look of the wood one you have better.
Fountains are very relaxing. We had a large bird bath type fountain just off the side of my screen porch. It had about 4 levels. Problem, it was made of synthetic something or other and after 4 or 5 years the weather started to get the best of it. Been gone for a few years now, I keep wanting to get another though.

I love the look of your pergola, I might try to duplicate it.

Because of our exposure and lots of mature trees sun is not an issue, but it would make grilling in the rain a lot easier.

Thank you all, the shade makes a huge difference, its gotta be at least 15 degrees cooler in the shade.
My deck is 15' by 19' and the pergola is 10' by 14' with the bar on one side. This gave me a 5' space for the bar area without the pergola looking weird off centered.
Its cedar and should weather nicely. BTW - I got it on clearance and just saw a similar one on wayfair for twice what I paid for mine.

That looks great.  I just bought a couple of folding rocking chairs from BJs. regularly $90 on sale for $30.  I couldn’t resist,

A lot of clearance at BJ's, I got the pergola, fountain and one of those egg grills.
