Title: Our Shop
Post by: Nexus on March 20, 2021, 06:21:03 AM
I say ours but really it's my fathers shop but I get reap the rewards of it all.

I was two years old when we moved here and my dad finally built a garage. We have been working out in the dirt and weather prior to this or sometimes my grandfathers garage.

Backyard before

this is the old sauna I have been making all my rustic wood projects from. Keep a mental note as to the location of the red box on the right!!

We were able to get it up and sealed just before the snow came

we wanted lots of lights because working in my grandfathers garage resembled the mine he worked at...dark!!

Man, all you guys are showing me up with these shops.  My two car garage doesn’t even fit two cars normally

Good stuff!  Get some bird work done!

I'll be happy with a 2 car garage... all I have is a single car garage that barely fits.
Congrats Charlie, that looks great.

Since all of the above, the bench was installed, complete with a custom bent steel bench top

I had a small blasting cabinet like that (broken record: lost in the fire), I really miss it. A couple of times I have been tempted to replace it, one of these days. A washer would be nice too.

Charlie,

You are making me envious with all that square footage, tall ceilings and bright lights. Blasting cabinet, safety clean basin and heavy duty work bench are just icing on the cake. If I had a shop like yours I would have a twin post side by side lift. I can’t complain about what I have, but your shop is really nice!

The hoist will come after the 16x 32 addition being put on the  west side of the garage is completed. This will be divided up into 3 rooms, one of which will be a wood working shop, and one will house the compressor and cabinets to clean up some floor space.

I am very happy with the available space but my father used to work in aircraft hangers so it isn't big enough for him...lol

That really looks nice; it is a lot of space!  This should really help with your progress.

Yes sir, its an A and I believe that one is a 1952?

We have several and it's hard to keep track.

I believe the years go like this...Mine (to be restored & belonged to my grandfather) is a 1949, that one a 52, the one that currently is the only one that runs is a 53 (I think) and the spare for potential parts is a 55.

Oh, and the new JD mower. Picked that up in October. My 1998 one finally died after about 3000 hours! :(

Cool, I have  1947 BN, my father has a B wide front and my Father-in-law has a B narrow.  All 1947s.

Although it's naked in the pictures, we recently added this old tire machine to the shop!!

Father had it apart, making sure it was safe to use as we only $250.00 for it!!

it works great apparently!

A tire machine is a great addition to any shop. About ten years ago I bought a motorcycle tire machine. It has just barely paid for itself, it’s nice to have the capability in your shop.

I find shop pictures interesting, thanks for posting!

Larry, a couple of years ago I was planning a long distance ride. Bike needed a new back tire and brakes. I figured on doing the stuff myself as I have practically worked on every other part of that bike. Brakes were no biggie. Got the rear wheel off, new tire and figured by noon I would be riding. Spent 2 days fighting with it  Found a motorcycle shop about 10 minutes from my house that I did not know existed, took the rim and tire over. He had it mounted in a couple of minutes. I found doing one by hand is almost impossible!!
Sorry for the hijack Charlie.
