Title: 2nd design Hurst T-top set pricing
Post by: 6point6 on March 21, 2014, 07:10:54 AM
Hello,
I have a set of 2nd design Hurst Hatch t-tops,bag,frames, screws, mounting hardware and all the plastic pieces to set a car up with t-tops. They are used but are in pretty good condition. The seals will need to be replaced and that is the only thing that would need to be purchased. The bag is in pretty nice condition with a few spots where the vinyl has come off. Frames are in nice condition with no bends. The hatches themselves have the usual small scratches in the glass that most all of them have after 38+ years.
My question is....What would be a good starting price for these? I have not been able to find a full set like this anywhere to get an idea. Thank you in advance for any answers.

About a year ago a fellow had some NOS Hurst conversions. They were on Ebay & sites for 1500. Dont know details on final sale prices.

They never sold if it's the same NOS set I saw. I offered $1000 and he never responded.

Are they black anodized, those are the ones used on SEs and can't be faked. That was the ones the guy on e bay was selling for 1500  or are they just polished aluminum used on all firebirds and reg T/As. Set the price where you want it people still love to haggle anyway.

They are the black SE frames and the t-tops are black. Interior trim is black also.
Thank you.

Since you can't fake black anodized t tops people that clone y82's can only paint the tops dead giveaway for a clone. I would ask top $ for them. I know someone on here or just online is selling a y82 that was re topped and has no t tops been on ebay awhile back and is for sale again that person would be a possibility, anyhow new ones sold for between 1000 & 1500 so I would ask 1100 obo and would not take a dime less than 1000, you have some very rare parts and should go back on an se but if someone wants to make a clone w/ them make them pay.

I know this is an old post, and long shot, but would these still be for sale?

I like it. If someone wants to make a clone....make them pay. And if simply doing a genuine resto...well...they can also pay.

Well I figured as much. Fortunately I pulled out some interior stuff and I think I got all the trim pieces and they are in good shape, The tops are fair to poor so maybe I have a shot at finding a set of tops. I am just not sure what all is needed so Im doing some research.
