Title: Spintechs
Post by: N PRGRES on March 13, 2025, 05:26:48 AM
Someone on here has these mufflers but I don't remember who, whoever it is, can you let me know how you like the sound?  I am looking to add these in place of my pypes exhaust.  one reasons is clearance but also, I don't really like how the pypes sound.

I had a pair on my 76 Trans Am back when it had the 400 and it sounded amazing. I don't recall the model of muffler, but it was a true dual exhaust with an x-pipe. Was one of the best sounding cars I've had.

Planning on putting the mild spintechs in the Mustang, from my research they are well made and I like the sound seems to be pricey though. Trying to keep ground clearance in the Trans Am so I am maintaining the cross over muffler with true duals, I believe the spins hang a little low. Lemme know if you go with them and enjoy them.

I have them.  They sound very good but yes the two mufflers hang down pretty low.  Not running the transverse setup - kind of regret that sometimes.  They’re not overly obnoxious and I haven’t noticed any drone issues.

Spins are no larger than any other muffler with a 4" depth, so they won't hang any lower than any other muffler.  They also make shallower ones, the ones I am getting, the 6000F is about 3.25" in depth.  The issue isn't the muffler, its how low our cars sit and where the muffler hangers are. :-?

I am putting a hanger right into the floor pan under the rear seats which will allow me to pull the mufflers up as close to the floor as I want.  I may have to add a heat barrier onto the mufflers but I'll see how it goes.  I think with the shallower muffler case, and additional hanger, I can get them to hang no further down than my subframe connectors are.  I hate to go into the floor but it has holes there already from a previous owner.  Seems to me that without the transverse muffler, there is too much weight hanging and the mufflers work their way down lower as time goes on.
