Title: Last Drive Of The Winter
Post by: roadking77 on March 01, 2025, 07:24:12 AM
Yesterday was the first time I have heard of meteorological winter but apparently yesterday was the last day of it. Weather was pretty decent and I finished work early. Took the car out for a quick spin. It looked like a barn find with a healthy layer of dust. Only about a 20 mile round trip. Went to the Amish market for some donuts and baked goods. It was nice to finally be able to drive a trans am after spending the last few months putting one together

In Northern Illinois the Calander is almost meaningless this time of year. In March we can easily have 60-degree temperature swings over a couple of days. Glad you got your car out. We finally had mild temps and rain that washed away the road salt. Yesterday I took mine out for the first time in a couple of months. Put on almost 60 miles. Filled up with cheap premium fuel at Costco, $3.35 a gallon. My car got lots of attention at the gas pump, it was a good day!

I’m fairly lucky and able to take the car to work on most Sunday's.  Texas weather can be fairly predictable and the winters are usually mild. I work Sunday-Thursday, and leave work at 10pm for at least a one hour drive…no traffic make it soo relaxing.

Looks great Kerry! Weather has been warm here, but tons of the salt brine still on the road. Hopefully we're getting rain Wednesday and that will take care of it.

I almost got mine out the other day as it was 55 and sunny.  I really need to change the oil and checmy trans fluid.  Bit of leak somewhere but not bad enough for me to want to fix it.

So, I left it in the shop and drove the 06 Daytona instead with the sunroof open.

Cars look great guys!

Our days are coming Ohio guys. I’m hoping to have mine out this coming Sunday or Monday as some nicer weather is forecast

Car looks great, I'm looking forward to getting mine out as well. I can usually drive it during the winter months but not this year, we've had a winter to remember.

Was close to taking it out last week had some rain and a week of 40-50 degree F weather, but now tonight we are under a uh… blizzard and winter storm warning… for a day or two. So might have to postpone it a bit.

Monday here maaaayyyeee  Sunday looks too cold.  I am actually hoping to move it from the house garage where it has been stuffed in (that garage is heated) in to the new garage/shop which gets insulated next week and will have heat next winter

We had some days in the 50s but I worked. Today it’s currently 37 and I just got back from a short drive running some errands in it. I couldn’t wait any longer lol. Parked 3 months…cranked it about 3 seconds to fill the bowl, one accelerator pump, turned the key another 2ish seconds and it fired right up. This Sunday it’ll be in the upper 40s I believe and Monday upper 50s. I’m off both days and plan to get it out again on one of them.

Shameless photo from today to follow

Soon we’ll be posting about fan clutches, bigger radiators, electric fans and high volume water pumps trying to keep everything cool!

Car looks great Brian! Mine has dust all over it. I need to do an oil change and charge my battery.  If the roads are dry, many I'll get mine out too.

Tinpusher, Ha, too funny.  My truck goes to the shop today for some new tires and an oil change so its a day off. May get the bird out and at least give it a much needed wash. IF thats the case I will have to at least take a spin around the block
