I have a 1970 Trans Am subframe in my shop. I was going to sell it for about $300 but then it crossed my mind to check out the steering gear box. The part # is 5691676. The stamp on the saginaw plate is 098 0. I know the 0 on the right means 1970. I don't know what the 098 means. I read it's a build date? maybe August the 9th? I read it's a fast ratio 14.5-11.1 and 2.5 turns lock to lock. The pitman arm and all the steering linkage, a arms, springs, front disc brakes is there also. I also read that the spindles are unique to the 1970? Anyway, Is there a special demand in this hobby for a 1970 T/A gear box and/or complete subframe? Thanks for any advice

Hasn't this been asked before? I think we agreed that the sub frame isn't anything special, the gearbox wouldn't be either since they can be purchased from places like Red Head gears. It the spline is different it might have more value but I don't know on that one.

Have a look through the 70 Manual I sent you, might have specific info on chassis and steering etc, could be same or different to other years though.
