I have a question. I traded some stuff and ended up with a 1970 Trans Am subframe........I think? Is there a way to determine the year of manufactuer? Any stamps, codes, tell tell signs etc?. It does have a huge sway bar and front disc brakes. That's all I know. I was just wondering if a REAL 1970 subframe is worth more because of the 70 being such a "one year" car. Thanks

I am sure there is a way to tell, I doubt that its worth significantly more than any others. I dont think 1970 is a one year only as far as the sub frame is concerned. Other than a date code of course. IF someone is doing a high end restoration and is worried about that kind of thing AND is in need of a subframe I would imagine paying a premium. But realistically how many guys are looking for a subframe? I had one sitting in my side yard for many years that I ended up giving away to a fellow in need. AND if someone is doing a crazy pro tour build they will be upgrading the sub frame anyway. I dont think your going to be able to retire on its sale

Thanks. I read that the 1970 steering gear box was a higher ratio than 1971 and newer?? Anyone??
