Title: Pulse Windshield Washer
Post by: roadking77 on September 09, 2024, 09:44:24 AM
Wasnt sure where to put this. Prob should be in mechanical?
Anyway, if someone has pulse wiper option on their car can you post pics of the fluid bottle?
I was ready to order a new one and it said for the pulse wiper there is a different bottle that allows the pump to be mounted to it?
THEN I saw a pulse wiper pump? This all has me confused. None of this stuff was in place when I got my car and my 77 does not have it. Want to make sure I get the correct stuff

1979 Trans Am

Thanks

My 78 has the "Motor Mounted Pump". The "Plastic Bottle" was crushed in the accident. I hope this helps.

Non-pulse have the pump under the bottle. The others have pump on wiper motor so a plain bottle. There's a few to choose from, I wouldn't trust the years sellers quote without checking original car pics or GM parts listing, if you wanted the exact type. Lid size may change also, or the tube size. Be aware they often sold overflow bottle cars and washer bottle caps without logos as the same thing, didn't always get the tube size they showed.
I'm not home to check but this is the type I'd imagine is correct for pulse/pump on wiper motor jar.

Thanks for the info.
I was talking with someone and came to realize that my pump is on the motor and im 99.9% sure its original. I have never heard of a pump on the tank which confused me. I started to wonder if there was yet another obscure part I was needing. I think all is good at this point.

There were two types of washer bottles, with the pump on the bottle, that were used around the 1975-77 era.  The link that Wallington posted, except they made that same style with a pump at the bottom and this one.....................and the pump for this one.  It came on the Y88.
The link Wallington posted is one of at least two that don't have the hole at the bottom and the lid has a hose nozzle on top.

Oh sorry, I think I misread. You have Pulse but want to put the washer pump back in the bottle for some reason?

No....you were correct with this.  I was just throwing out more info on the non-pulse setup.
