Hope everyone is enjoying the summer. I just purchased an OER front spoiler kit that came with the welting. One would thing it would secure to the flares by adhesive or a grove. Has anyone ever used the oer welting? I plan on painting the parts when I can figure out how the wleting attaches.

That welting is not the best available and more difficult to work with to end up with a finished look that is acceptable.
You will need to be creative and glue it in place on the spoiler and flares. That said, the factory stuff had a staple through it at the top of the flares to get it to stay in place at the tight corner so every product requires some work.
If you want the best product available that is an exact copy of the profile and available in many of the factory colors. “Wizard 61” on the Performance Years forum now run by Ames Performance has been recreating the welting and selling it on EBay as well as to anyone who contacts him on the forum.

Ya, I think I have bought every variation of that welting available... it all stinks. The stuff from the above mentioned guy is extremely close and very flexible. I have yet to get my flares on my car but it look like that is the only welting that fit and flex to the body and look good. It is pricey but you get what you pay for.

I used some cheap stuff and it was flexible but not shaped correctly and I hadn’t painted it. I tried the above stuff and I’m very pleased.

I bought stuff from Ames for mine. Did not have a problem with it. On the 79 I used factory coloured silver and it looks fine. I had to paint the stuff on my black car and it is still holding up fine.
Yes with the staple at the top where there is a sharp bend. I dont want to sound like Captain Obvious but a couple of strategic cuts out of the back side will help the bending tremendously.
