So, I know this was talked about before at some point bit I couldn't find it.
I have a couple really nice sets of front wheels flairs but the edge that meets the body is really stiff and has curled away from the body so the welting will never touch the body. I have some custom made welting that is identical to the original and you can see the edge of the flair is curled away so it's the flairs. Now to my question. Does anyone have experience with the aftermarket urethane and or fiberglass ones for 79-81 cars? I feel that all originals will be like the sets I have so I was thinking maybe get fiberglass ones and sand to the contour of the fender but also worried they won't fir the spoiler.
Any help guys?
I am hoping Wellington has info like he does on side mirrors!

Haha sorry, can't help on TA parts.

What the?! I KNEW you wouldn't be there when I needed you! :-D

I know we talked about them before, and I have them boxed up to ship, but if you want to have a look at the extra ones I have just for comparison you’re welcome to.

I might take you up on that. I pulled a couple different ones from my stash and they all have a curl to them where they meet the body. I tried to heat them up and bend them back but they ended up curling back after a few days. So if figured most of the factory ones out there are probably just as dried as the few I have here but maybe not. That's why I was curious if other have tried the repop ones out there or the fiberglass ones.
Thanks for the offer if I get some free time here and you haven't sold them yet, we can compare them to the couple I have.

Sounds good man, just let me know.

Here's some random trivia of use to no one, maybe Japanese car owners.... the short flat braces that go from the nosecone top of 79-81 models to the radiator support, one straight, one angled for some odd reason.... #10004324 are the same parts used to connect front fender flares to core support on TA models when the front spoiler is not used or installed. This occurred due to a shortage in front spoiler supply, those models that required it to be installed after delivery, and export models that didn't use the front spoiler. There's even a letter to owners explaining the shortage and that they may choose to leave off and not need restock and to keep the short braces in place.

Any idea why the exports didn’t have the center?
-
Not sure. Perhaps didn't meet road requirements in Japan as W52 where they also left off rear spoilers. But then there's just as many that did have them installed. Or again, perhaps for transporting/loading. I'll have a read, several pages.

How in the heck do you come up with history??...
Anyway, very interesting, they were like, how are we going to hold these from moving? Guy in the back sweeping the floor yells out, use those little brace thingys I keep sweeping up, they're everywhere.

I'll scan and post in a new post.
